Pastor's Pen

by Pastor Jimmy Sharp
September 2003
September seems to
bring a measure of regularity into the schedule. I don't know about you but I
like a little regularity in my life. I mean a schedule that reminds me of the
places I am to go and the people I am to see, meetings that I am to attend,
classes I am to attend as well as teach. I like to have a plan when I can. A
plan helps me to put things into perspective. I get to evaluate the importance
of different things I am involved in and with, a plan, yeah, I like a plan.
In the Scriptures we
discover that God has a plan. God does not only operate out of the now. God is
operating on a plan. Jesus and his life and work was part of God's plan. We
can discover more about this plan through studying the Bible. In the Bible we
discover how God interacts with God's creation. We can see and know when God
is acting and learn how we can participate in what God is doing. Receiving
Jesus as our Lord and Savior is a beginning of understanding. We begin to
understand that God created us for God's own pleasure. God loves us beyond the
measure of our own understanding. We become aware that God wants to commune
with us, fellowship with us, love us and we begin to understand what that
means.
September offers the
people in the Buckhorn community another opportunity for Bible study. In
addition to our regular study offerings of Sunday School, Adult Bible study
Sunday evenings at six and our United Methodist Women's directed studies,
etc..., we will be in Bible study on Tuesday mornings at the Church. The study
will begin at 9:30 am and continue until 11:00 am. We will have a break for
fellowship and refreshment in the middle and of course we will take questions.
This opportunity will begin September 9, at 9:30 am and continue through
Tuesday November 18, at 11:00 am. We will be looking into the book of
Revelation. Come along and let us travel this part of the journey together.
God has a plan and we have a plan. What about you? Do you have a plan? Plan to
be with us on Tuesday mornings.
