Pastor's Pen

Summertime
is coming on by degrees. May has started out warm and promises to get warmer
as the month rolls on. It should be predictable, but for some reason I hold on
to the idea that it won't be so bad and then it's 90 + degrees. Shouldn't I
have known this? This isn't my first summer. Well, it sure is warm today.
Maybe some of
you are experiencing a time in your life that slipped up on you. You should
have seen it coming but ... Well, it is already here and it is not getting
any better. You really need to do something with it. My, my... aren't people
quick with the obvious. Living life to the fullest is not a solo task. You
need someone to help you see down the road or even around corners. That would
be very helpful. This person could be a spouse or a good friend. It could even
be a parent, well, maybe not but still someone that cares and is willing to
make an investment in you.
People
created in the image of God have needs. God either meets your need or provides
for your need to be met. Many times God chooses to use other people to help
you out in your time of need. I know it is a humbling experience to have
someone help you, but think about it. "God resist the proud but gives grace to
the humble..." this means even in your time of trouble. I know, I like to be
the one helping also, but there are those times when you need help and this is
one of them isn't it? I am convinced that if you will get your eyes off the
mess in your life and look around, you will discover that God is trying to
show you the solution. If you will give God the chance, God will not miss the
opportunity. You may be thinking that God will use a Good Samaritan, a person
that you simply can not see yourself being in conversation with and God
choosing this person to help you out. If you are thinking like this, you are
on the right track. Not only can God use this person to help you, but God can
even use you to help this person. Isn't God great!
Unfortunately
there are some people that prefer their messy situation instead of God's
solution, that's called pride and remember God resist the proud. Humility does
not seem to be a good American word, but it gets God's attention every time.
